About Maria

My interest for fashion and sewing began when I was just a girl. When I accompanied my mother to her seamstress I would ask for fabric scraps to make dresses for my dolls. After some practice I started making my grandma’s aprons and bed sheets.

When I finished elementary school my father paid for sewing courses. With this education, I began to design and sew for my family and friends. Once I finished high school I continued on to a home economics trade school with fashion specialty in Guatemala. When I graduated trade school, I earned a scholarship to Waukesha Technical College in Wisconsin. I graduated in 1988 with my AA in Fashion Merchandising.

In 2008 I began my career with bridal stores, and after working for a few well-known bridal stores, I decided to work exclusively for brides in my home area from my in-home studio. Throughout my bridal gown alteration career, I have worked on beautiful dresses from many fashion designers such as Maggie Sottero, Allure Bridals, Oleg Cassini, Casablanca, Vera Wang and others.

I am dedicated to my brides from start to finish, nobody else works on the gowns but me. I will be the one on the first call for a first fitting, and I will work on the dress up until it is steamed, pressed, and delivered. My mission is for the dress to fit like a glove, for the brides to be 100% happy, satisfied, and content—whatever the alteration need may be. After 35 years of experience in fashion, it’s the brides, bridesmaids and special occasion dresses that I enjoy working on.

All of my customers—brides, bridesmaids, mothers of the bride/groom—are seen by appointment in the intimacy of my home in Murrieta, CA where my studio is located.

I, Simply Maria, specialize in providing affordable and professional alterations and tailoring on gowns for weddings and special occasions. From simple details to gowns with crystals, beads, scalloped hems, lace, etc.
